February 21,2021 Self-Care Sunday

Good day folks, I hope everyone had a great weekend and is enjoying your Sundays. Let's jump into this, shall we?

Self-care is more than just a Mac Miller song. Yes, that is a fact Jack. So what is self-care you ask? Well, it can be a number of different things, that means something different to different people. Today we are going to run through some important self-care ideas, activities, and habits you can get into to make your life better.

Self-care is important to your mental health. If you are someone that is not OK ( and it's ok to be not ok I hear you, and I understand) some of these may help you feel a little more ok. Or at least start getting you on the right track to feeling OK again. I'm not going to tell you to stay away from smoking or having a drink or smoking a joint, do what you have to do to get through the day and enjoy your own terms of self-care. Not all of these are for everyone, and that is fine. However, I hope that his helps you generate some ideas and maybe spark a discussion. You may even have some of your own that weren't mentioned on here, and please feel free to comment and let me know.

1.) Surround yourself with good people. I mean being around people who are good for your mental health. If you are feeling low or mentally drained, probably those people are not good for you. Find the people who make you laugh and feel good. Being around people that bring you down all the time is worse than being alone.

2 .) Learn how to cope with stress. This is not only helpful for your mental health and self-care. Learning how to deal with stress now, will help reduce stress-related illnesses in the future.

3.) Learn meditation. This goes along with learning how to deal with stress and stressors. By learning how to meditate your body and mental health with thank you in the long-run

4.) Exercise! I can't stress this enough. Get out if you can and go for a walk, ride a bike, a short jog. Anything that helps your oxygen flow better through your body is going to make you feel instantly better. If the weather is permitting, get out for a swim. Swimming is one of my favorite things to do for fun and self-care.

5.) Have fun! Do something you find fun. Retail therapy, cooking, hanging out with a friend. Reading a book, have a dance party. Just make sure you're having fun doing it.

I hope this small list will be of help. I know there are tons more and like I said, please share yours!
